It will be an all Munster affair in the Myclubshop.ie 60x30 Ladies Open Final this year as Cork's Catriona Casey and Limerick's Martina McMahon will renew rivalry in a repeat of last years decider as both ladies came through their semi finals in today's programme at Abbeylara Handball Club.
Cork sensation Casey powered her way through to another major final as she had a comfortable victory over Mayo's Amy Corrigan on a 21-3, 21-4 scoreline. Casey will be bidding for her fourth blue riband title in the Ladies Open grade next Saturday in the final at the Longford venue. Casey looked comfortable throughout as she dominated from start to finish in a performance that will mark her out as favourite in next Saturday's showdown.
In the second semi final Limerick's Martina McMahon defeated Kilkenny's Ciara Mahon to book her place in this year's decider. Kilkenny's Mahon had accounted for Kerry's Ashley Prediville a former champion in the Quarter Finals and entered today's game in high spirits. The young Kilkenny star certainly proved she has a bright future in her maiden semi final and caused her Limerick opponent McMahon plenty of problems. However the Limerick lady's experience told in the end as she defeated the gutsy Mahon on a 21-10, 21-11 scoreline and secured her place in next week's final.
Dublin's Eoin Kennedy has booked his place in his 14th Mens Open Final as he defeated Kilkenny legend Ducksy Walsh 21-4, 21-17 in today's Myclubshop.ie 60x30 All Ireland Semi Finals in Abbeylara. Kennedy was at his brilliant best in game 1 keeping Walsh to just 4 points but was made to work for his victory in game 2 as Walsh rolled back the years and produced some fantastic handball before the Dubliner regained control to close out the game 21-17 and book his spot in the decider in two weeks time. Kennedy will face either Westmeath's Robbie McCarthy or Tipperary's Ger Coonan who face off in the other semi final next week.
