Mayo's Niall Joyce has continued his fine form this year as he captured the Mylubshop.ie 60x30 MInor Singles title at a packed Abbeylara today. Joyce has now completed the clean sweep of Minor Singles titles having previously taken the 40x20 and Hardball crowns earlier this year.
Today's final saw Joyce up against rising Kilkenny star Shane Dunne who at 16 certainly has a bright future ahead of him. The young man from Clogh showed glimpses of his capability today and the more experiences Joyce needed every inch of his experience with his ability to kill the ball at ease being the difference as he defeated the gutsy Kilkenny man in two games to capture his first Minor title in the big alley. The first game saw the young Claremorris man take control as he closed out a 21-11 victory.
Game two saw Joyce get off to a flier as he raced into a 12-3 then 17-3 lead as his young opponent struggled to stay with him. However Dunne showed great courage to fight back to 11-19 but ultimately the gap was too wide as Joyce closed the game out 21-11 to capture the title.
