GAA Handball Ireland will have a full Official Team Ireland 40x20 squad at the 2012 World Handball Championships with almost all places to be filled following the Irish Adult 40x20 Nationals and the six Junior Team Trials events in two weeks time.

The last of the 40x20 Official Team will then be made up of the Mens Open Doubles and Ladies Open Doubles and trials for those two places will take place over the weekend of 28th and 29th April 2012.

Entries are now been taken for the Worlds Open Doubles Trials and all partnerships intending to compete must send their details by email to before the closing date of Wednesday 11th April 2012, by 5pm.

The following details will be required for entry: Players Names together with Club Name with which they are registered. Entry is Free.

Grades: (i) Mens Open Doubles and (ii) Ladies Open Doubles

Following the World Handball Council Congress in Portland, Oregon, in October 2009, it was announced that for future Open Doubles events at the World Handball Championships, doubles pairings must come from the same Country. Therefore, Irish players planning to compete in the Open Doubles World Championships will have to team up with players from Ireland.
